Wisdom teeth and oral surgery in Brussels
Oral surgery covers the procedures performed in the mouth under local anaesthesia, sedation or general anaesthesia: wisdom tooth extraction, exposure of impacted teeth, removal of jaw cysts and frenectomy. They are performed at Molière Longchamp Hospital (Brussels) and at the Cabinet Médico-Dentaire Les Bons Villers, a few minutes from Nivelles, Genappe and Villers-la-Ville.
Local anaesthesia or sedation?
Most procedures are performed under local anaesthesia, at the practice or at the hospital. For maximum comfort (not hearing the noises, not feeling the pressure) or for long procedures, sedation is offered as day surgery at Molière: a light sedative given intravenously, combined with local anaesthesia. General anaesthesia is reserved for particular situations.
After the procedure
Recovery is detailed day by day on each page. The common principles: cold on the cheek for the first two days, painkillers at fixed times, no smoking, gentle brushing from the first evening taking care with the resorbable stitches, a cold or lukewarm, soft diet for the first few days. There is no systematic check-up unless the patient wishes one; a quick check-up is possible without an appointment if you have any concern.
